So my sister asked me to do some paintings for her nursery (my new nephew is just a few months away!)and she wanted something cute, possibly a nautical theme with adorable animals. Think she'll like this? What? Hey, come on, this is baby friendly!

Toph!

Here's a little fan art from Avatar: The Last Airbender. I LOVE Toph, she's such a great character. I could watch her debut episode, "The Blind Bandit" every week. Where else can you find a tiny little blind girl beating up everyone who gets in her way? I expect to do more fan art from Avatar, especially seeing how good Legend of Korra is. Stay tuned.

Avatar: The Last Airbender fan art

Here's the background for some fan art I've been working on, this is the Earth Kingdom symbol from the tv show, Avatar: The Last Airbender. More later.

Uncle Owen is full of it.

Seriously. This is something I just noticed today. Wouldn't they be gathering moisture all year long? "Quick, get all this moisture to Mos Eisley before it rots." "Shut up, Uncle Owen."

"E" is for Everything is Illuminated

If you've never seen this movie, go buy it. Don't Netflix it or Red Box it, go buy it. It is so good. I lived in Russia for two years, and this movie accurately shows what it's like for an American to first go over to a Russian-speaking country. And- unlike most movies where Russians/Russian speakers are featured- this movie has native speakers and the language is fantastic. This is Liev Schreiber's directorial debut and I think he nailed it. I read the novel after the film and this was one of the few times I enjoyed the film more. It is a "premium" film.

"D" is for Dark Knight

I always thought that the Joker looked the best/scariest when he was seen through glass and the only details you can really make out are his dark eyes and red scar smile. One of the movie posters showed him writing "Why so serious?" where you get this effect. In the film itself there's a quick moment as he's leaving the meeting with all the mobsters (you know, the magic pencil trick scene) where he kicks the door open behind him to leave and as it swings shut you get a glimpse of the Joker behind frosted glass and the smile and the eyes are the only thing that you can really make out. Very cool look. Thought I'd try for that here.

"C" is for Casino Royale

One of my favorite Bond films. This one has more than just exotic locales and great action sequences, there's a bit of great acting too!

"B" is for Blues Brothers

I thought it would be fun to make a "favorite movie alphabet", with a different movie for each letter. I'm still torn on what film to do for "A", so I started with B. After all, they're on a mission from God.

The Teapot!

Here it is, the teapot assignment. Obviously there's a lot to fix and I need to learn to do shading and lighting better, but it was fun.

Thanksgiving Race

I forget how it came up, but my cousin Jill and I got into an argument about who would win in a race.  (I would) and somehow the rest of the family heard about it and so Thanksgiving morning while Liz and I are in Indy we're having a race right on Crowder road!  It'll be a 40-yard dash. May the best ME win!

I think I'm going to have a cape for the race, possibly a Luchador mask.
